Abstract
399,606. Flexible couplings. FAIREY AVIATION CO., Ltd., Cranford Lane, Hayes, Middlesex, and FORSYTH, A. G., Venlaw, Burdon Lane, Cheam, Surrey. June 8 1932, No. 16199. [Class 80 (ii).] A coupling comprises driving and driven elements, provided, the one element with a plurality of packs of leaf springs disposed radially of the shaft and lateral abutments towards the opposite ends of the springs, and the other element with a series of dog teeth engaging the packs of springs intermediately of their ends and a second set of dog teeth abutting against fixed parts on the element carrying the leaf springs after a predetermined relative angular movement of the two elements has taken place. In one form of the coupling a driving shaft a has a circumferential flange provided with two sets of dog teeth g, h, abutting against leaf springs j, and a flange on the driven element has two sets of dog teeth c, n, the set c extending between the leaf springs j, and a predetermined clearance being left between the teeth n, g. The driven element is a gear wheel freely mounted on the shaft a with the provision of an intermediate bushing k.
