Abstract

397,726. Lawn-mowers. WORTHING- TON, C. C., Dunfield, New Jersey, U.S.A. Nov. 23, 1932, No. 33137. [Class 6 (ii).] A gang lawn-mower comprises a central front frame section 2, a side frame section 8 hinged to each side thereof, mower units respectively connected to each section, a draught coupling on each hinged section, rear frame sections 13 connected to the couplings, and mower units flexibly connected to the rear frame sections 13. The central frame has a draw-bar connector 1, and may be supported on the axle 4 of its mower unit by two standards. Each hinged frame 8 may be connected to the axle 4 of its mower unit by a central standard and two pull links 11. The hinges 9 of each section 8 are spaced some distance apart longitudinally and are disconnectible. The rear frame sections 13 may each be connected to two mower units having their axles free to tilt in a vertical plane. The frames 13 are flexibly connected to bars 15 projecting rearwardly from the frames 8 to a point approximately midway between the two rows of axles 4. The central frame 2 has a tail bar 16 like the bars 15 so that a two-row seven-unit gang may be converted into a tworow five-unit gang by removing one rear frame 13 and hooking the other to the bar 16. The side frames 8 may be removed to convert the five-unit gang to a three-unit gang. Specifications 163,300 and 209,132, [both in Class 6 (ii), Gardening &c. appliances], are referred to.
