Abstract

504,496. Tractor couplings. BAMFORD, C. J., and BAMFORD, H. V. April 21, 1938, No. 11934. [Class 103 (v)] In a coupling-gear. for mowers of the kind described in Specification 458,263, in order to obviate any tendency of long cutter bars to lag or turn, the additional rigid bar connecting the diagonal coupling-bar 3 to the rearward machine is dispensed with, and the diagonal coupling-bar 3 is extended beyond its point 13 of pivotal connection with the draw-bar 14, its extremity 15 being connected by links to the floating bar bracket 19, main shoe or equivalent part of the cutter bar. In the arrangement shown the linkage system comprises a vertical link 17 pivoted at 20 to the draw-bar 14 and jointed to substantially horizontal links 16, 18. As described in the prior Specification referred to the coupling-bar 3 incorporates two joints 11, 12 and is secured to a rigid framework 6, 7 on the leading machine or tractor. For coupling the rearward machine behind the leading machine the pins 10, 15 are removed and the coupling-bar hitched up by a bolt 24 to the stay 7 on the leading machine.
