[Class 103 (v)] Coupling means for haymaking- machines working in echelon includes laterally inclined or extending stay members and connections incorporating a vertical pivot joint between two horizontal pivot joints. In Fig. 1, a rearwardly inclined stay member 3 attached to the leading machine 1 1 is connected to a forwardly inclined stay member 16 on the trailing machine 10 by links 19, 20 with horizontal pivotal joints 18, 21 and a vertical pivot joint 22, a plurality of holes 35 providing means for adjustment. On the machine 10, the stay 16 is mounted on a pin 13 under the drawbar 11 and is bolted to a bar 24 extending fiom the platform 23. The stay 3 is secured to the axle 2 by a U-bolt 4 and stay 6 forming a triangular structure which may be reinforced by a stay 8. For coupling in line during transport, the bolts 22, 25 are taken out and used to connect the link 19 to the extensions 26 of the stay 6. In a modification, the stays 3, 6 are attached to the rear end of the frame of a tractor which may also carry a cutter. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 4, a yoke 50 horizontally pivoted to a bracket 56 on the drawbar of the trailing machine 37 is connected by a vertical pivot 51 to a link 49 swung between collars on a bar 39 extending transversely from the leading machine 36, the bar 39 being secured by clips 40 to the axle thereof and stayed by a bar 42 extending forwardly and laterally to pass through a bracket 53 at the forward end of the machine 36. Also pivoted on the bracket 53 is a yoke 54 adjustably coupling the machine to a transverse drawbar 55 on the tractor 38, an auxiliary stay 44 extending from the bar 42 to the connection.
