Abstract
423,681. Lawn-mowers. THOMAS, F. G., Berrigan, New South Wales, Australia. Sept. 22, 1933, No. 26225. Convention date, Oct. 5, 1932. [Class 6 (ii)] In a gang lawn-mower wherein a series of machines are separately coupled to a common draw-bar mounted on wheels, a pressure-spring 11 is provided having its rear end bearing on each of the handles of the mower units and its front end connected to the draw-bar D through a hinged pressure-bar 13 overlying the draw-bar and spring-connected thereto. The units are arranged in one or more rows and are connected to the draw-bar by yokes 2 engaging hooks 8. The handles 9 of the units are shortened and have channel guides 12 for the springs 11. Each spring passes through a guide 17 on the bar 13 and is secured thereto by a bolt 18 which can be screwed up to adjust the tension on the spring. The bar 13 is hinged on shafts 19 and is connected to the draw-bar by detachable springs 15. By releasing these springs the bar 13 may be raised and the units may be swung over by their handles 9 to put them out of action. The implement may be drawn by a horse or tractor.
