423,753. Lawn-mowers. WORTHINGTON, C. C., Dunfield, New Jersey, U.S.A. Oct. 19, 1933, No. 28963. Convention date, Oct. 21, 1932. [Class 6 (ii)] In tractor-drawn mowers comprising mower units individually free to accommodate themselves to undulations in the ground, each unit is provided with a removable grass-box so supported that part of its weight is sustained by the tractor. The front mower unit is located between the tractor wheels 1 and is connected to the tractor by links 13 and arms 12 on a rock-shaft 11. A sheet-metal box 15 has notched side cleats 16 engaging a tie-rod 17 on the mower unit. It also has a front hook 18 engaging a bail 19 pivoted on the tractor frame. The unit and box may be raised by rocking the shaft 11 by means of a hand lever 20, a locking-latch 21 being provided to engage the lever, and a stop 27 to engage a bar 22 on the unit to prevent forward dipping. There may be two front mower units. The grassboxes for the rear units are identical with the front box and are interchangeable. Their front hooks 18 rest on ledges 26 on draught yokes 23 which are hooked to eyes 25 on the tractor. The front ends of the units carrying the boxes may be elevated for travelling on the rear rollers 9 or on carriers, the joints between the draught yokes 23 and mower units being locked by pivoted latches 28 engaging notches 29.
