761,572. Lawnmowers. SHANKS & SON, Ltd., A. Dec. 20, 1954 [Dec. 21, 1953], No. 35421/53. Class 6(2). A gang-mower comprises one or more gangs towed by a tractor 13, each gang comprising a pair of mowing units 14, 17 connected in staggered formation to the tractor drawbar 11 so that the line of traction G on each gang is parallel to and midway between the lines of pull B<SP>1</SP>, B<SP>2</SP>, which would be exerted on the individual units if coupled separately to the drawbar. When two or more gangs are employed, the axle of the forward mower 17 of one gang is arranged to be collinear with the axle of the rear mower 14 of an adjacent gang. Each rear unit is towed by an extension 16 of the axle of the forward unit.
