Abstract

1,164,890. Agricultural tractors. U. A. SORRI. 6 Dec., 1967 [7 Dec., 1966], No. 55515/67. Heading B7H. [Also in Division A1] To obtain increased stability and adhesion when using an agricultural tractor 1 with an implement or machine attached to the rear thereof, a tandem traction unit 2 having driven wheels powered from the tractor engine is connected behind the tractor, and the implement or machine is attached to mounting means on the unit 2. The tandem traction unit 2 has an axle and wheels resembling the rear axle and wheels of a tractor and includes a drawbar 5. The unit may be formed by detaching the front axle, engine &c. from a second tractor. The wheels on the unit 2 are driven from a p.t.o. shaft on the tractor 1 through a Cardan shaft 6 and a lockable differential, or through hydraulic transmission means. A power-lift linkage 7, 8 is provided on the unit 2, and a tow-hook and a winch may also be provided thereon. Means 9 may act on the drawbar 5 for transmitting part of the weight of the unit 2 to the tractor wheels.
