Abstract

395,679. Rotary compressors. SCHNœRLE, A., 91, Moltkestrasse, Cannstatt, Stuttgart, Germany. Oct. 14, 1931, No. 28574. Convention date, Oct. 15, 1930. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Class 110 (ii).] In a supercharger or scavenging device a rotor a on a shaft a<1> moves in contact with parallel inclined side walls b<1>, b2 of a fixed casing, and a diametral blade d, which is located in a slot in the rotor, moves around an axis XX. A pin e on which the blade rocks secures the blade in position. The inlet ports extend for about 90‹ round a side wall, and the discharge ports for a smaller angle. The leading edge of the discharge port is so positioned that the pressure in the compressor corresponds, in the case of two-stroke engines, to the scavenging pressure, and in four-stroke engines, to the supercharging pressure. The compressor may be located on the shaft of an internal-combustion engine at the opposite end to the flywheel, or may have a thickened periphery to act as the flywheel. The rotor may be hollow or formed of light metal, and may be located on a shaft separate from the engine shaft.
