395,612. Catamenial appliances. TWIGG, E. J., 49, Woodside Avenue, Coventry. Jan. 9, 1933, No. 688. [Class 81 (ii).] A catamenial appliance comprises a pad 8 of absorbent material enclosed by a rectangular covering 2 formed from a sheet of rubber, opposite edges 3 of which are bent towards one another and cut away to form an opening 7, appropriate edges, for example 5, being secured to each other or to the main portion, with or without the use of reinforcing fillets of rubber, as by an adhesive. A rectangular rubber sheet is used, the corners 4 being removed. The pad may be secured in a gauze covering by twisting the ends 9 which can be tucked into the envelope 2 or passed through holes therein. Loops 11 of strip rubber may be attached by an adhesive or detachable means such as press-buttons. According to the Provisional Specification, the covering may be of any waterproof or oilproof material, such as proofed or cellulosed fabric or paper, and may be permanently attached to the pad.
