Catamenial appliances. - A sanitary napkin comprises a substantially rectangular piece of knitted material the opposite edges 14, Fig. 2, of which are folded towards the centre line 13; the whole is then folded about the centre line to bring the faces 11, 12 together. Tabs 30, 31, Fig. 3, provided with button-holes are then sewn on and the sewing continued along the edge 35 constituted by the original centre line. The whole forms a pocket into which a sheet of rubber, rubberized cloth or silk, antiseptic paper or other absorbent or waterproof material may be inserted through the edge opposite to the sewn edge.
