Abstract
395,514. Measures of length. CHESTERMAN & CO., Ltd., J., Bow Works, and BAILEY, T., 76, Bents Road, Ecclesall, both in Sheffield. July 9, 1932, No. 19421. [Class 106 (ii).] A vernier height gauge has its height-scale bearing blade or bar of angular cross section. As shown in the Figures, the blade is of substantially V-shaped cross section having faces 1, 2 marked with scales graduated in different units. The sliding jaw 4, marked with vernier scales 1a, 2a, carries two threaded members 5 urged into engagement with screwed rod 8 by spring 9. The sliding jaw 4 is normally moved by knob 12 which turns the screwed rod 8 through gearing in the base 3, but it can be adjusted to any desired position on the blade by pressing the studs 7 which disengage the members 5 from the rod 8. A zero mark 14 is shown on the jaw 4 and an extension of usual type can be fitted.
