Abstract

526,005. Dividing apparatus. BLACKBURN AIRCRAFT, Ltd., and SMITH, R. March 6, 1939, No. 7248. [Class 97 (iii)] A spacing rule comprises a sheath 10 of C- section within which is mounted a rule of extensible material, e.g. a flattened helical spring 11 carrying index markings 19. One end of the spring 11 is attached to a fixed head 13 having a face 14 normal to the sheath and constituting the zero of the scale. The free end of the spring is attached to a slide 17 which may be fixed in any required position by a set screw 18. The upper edge of the sheath may have graduation to indicate the distance between the markings 19 when the left hand index is made to coincide therewith. The rule may be made applicable to curved as well as straight lines.
