Abstract

480,657. Linear - dimension gauges. BROWN, J. Oct. 7, 1937, No. 27206. [Class 106 (ii)] A gauge for measuring the diameters of rods &c. comprises a base plate 1, a longitudinal upstanding bar 2 on one face of the base plate, a pair of upstanding bars 3, 4 on opposite sides of and inclined to the bar 2 to provide a pair of three sided guages, one side of each being suitably graduated at 6, 7. To measure a rod or tube it is slid along the base plate until the end abuts against the bar 3 or 4, the graduation immediately below the end indicating the diameter. An inverted-U marker may be slid along the bar 2 to mark the end of the tube. One or both bars 3, 4 may be angularly adjustable, to co-operate with different graduations suitably distinguished. The bar 2 may be prolonged beyond the base to serve as a handle.
