Abstract

394,952. Oil engines. LANZ AKT.- GES., H., 53, Lindenhofstrasse, Mannheim, Germany. Sept. 29, 1931, No. 27161. Convention date, Oct. 24, 1930. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Class 7 (iii).] Fuel and water are supplied by pumps a, b respectively, the relative proportions of one liquid to the other and the control of the injection timing being capable of adjustment during running. A reciprocating member f moves the fuel pump plunger h through a tappet g and an oscillating transverse member n ; the stroke of the plunger is initially adjusted by a screw stop l and during running it is manually or automatically varied by a wedge i interposed between the member f and the tappet g. The oscillating member n engages a collar p on the water pump plunger, the stroke of the latter being varied by a manually controlled wedge q which adjusts the degree of lost-motion between the member n and the collar p ; initial adjustment of the lost-motion is effected by a setscrew r. When adjusted for maximum delivery, a certain amount of lost-motion between the water pump plunger and its actuating member is provided to ensure that fuel is injected in advance of water.
