Abstract

412,522. Fuel-injection pumps. FUSIONMOTEURS, Boulevard Gallieni, Rueil-Mal. maison, Seine-et-Oise, France. Feb. 12, 1934, No. 4565. Convention date, Feb. 16, 1933. [Class 102 (i).] In a fuel-injection pump the spill port k in the plunger e is uncovered during the discharge stroke by a sleeve f, which moves with the plunger under the action of a spring l, but is retarded at high speeds by the braking action of fuel in the suction chamber a. The chamber is provided with a byepass o, controlled by a needle-valve o<1>, and a byepass p with a checkvalve p<1>. The tension of the spring l is adjustable by means of a pinion n gearing with teeth on a cup m on which the spring abuts. An adjustable stop r is provided for limiting the upward movement of the sleeve f. A flange f on the sleeve f abuts on a disc h<1> on which the return spring h of the plunger acts. Fuel may be supplied to the suction ports c from the space below the disc #<1>. In a modification the braking action of the fuel is exerted on the sleeve f during the downward stroke in a manner similar to that described in Specification 392,867.
