Abstract

394,428. Cutting tubular fabrics. DOWNS, H. W., 33, Dow Street, Chorlton-on- Medlock, Manchester. March 18, 1932, No. 4796. [Class 31 (i).] Apparatus for producing long lengths of cloth on the bias by cutting a tubular cloth a helically, comprises a rotary drum C disposed in front of a flat table A, a pair of endless chains D, D1 arranged diagonally for gripping the cloth and drawing it forward to the rotary cutting discs E, E1, and take-up rollers F, F1 which draw the severed cloth from the table. The tubular cloth is drawn off a roller mounted in known manner in a revolving frame, and passes over the drum C, one lap of the cloth passing over the table A. Two pairs of chains may be employed and the cutters placed between them. A brush or cloth expander G may be fitted to straighten the edge of the cloth.
