Abstract

408,118. Making razor blades. SIEPMANN, E., SIEPMANN, E., and SIEPMANN, M., (trading as SIEPMANN & CO., E.), 14, Sommerstrasse, Solingen, Germany. June 29, 1933, No. 18526. Convention date, Sept. 5, 1932. [Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iii).] Milling.-In producing razor blades from a steel strip, the strip a is passed through a machine provided with milling-cutters operating on both sides and at both edges of the strip. The strip is unwound from a drum t and passes first to a braking device r<1> and then over a number of guide rollers q<1>, q2 to a drum t<1> driven by belting v to draw the strip through the machine. Each guide roller q<2> holds the strip in contact with a milling - cutter b-e, each cutter forming a bevel on one side of one edge of the strip The cutters are driven by belt gearing x and are adjustable horizontally and vertically on compound slides f<1>, g<1> by means of hand wheels o <1>. The strip is preferably made thinner at the longitudinal edges than elsewhere.
