441,605. Cutting webs. STRECKER, G., 2, Mathildenstrasse, and GOCKEL, T., 37, Mornewegstrasse, both in Darmstadt, Germany. Sept. 2, 1935, No. 24511. Convention date, Sept. 27, 1934. [Class 31 (i)] In a machine for slitting a web of paper &c. longitudinally by pairs of disc cutters, each pair of cutters A, B, is mounted on a transversely adjustable holder E<1>. The cutters A, B bear in upper and lower parts E, E3 of the holder, which parts are connected by a neck E<2> which passes through the slit produced by the cutters. In one form, Figs. 1 and 2, the neck E<2> displaces one edge of the web upwards and the adjacent edge downwards out of the general plane of the web. In another form, Fig. 7, both edges of the web are displaced upwards and guiding rollers O may be provided. The lower cutter B, shown as cup-shaped, is driven by gears L. M, of which the latter is slidably keyed to a shaft G. The holder E<1> is slidable on a bar H by a rack H<1> and pinion J.
