A hand-lever operated shearing machine is pivoted at 7 to the main table 9 and is clamped by a bolt in an arcuate slot 29. An index 19 co-operates with a graduated scale. The strip is fed past an adjustable guide 31 and over plates 11, 12 carried by the shearing-machine and having edges 14 that coact with the moving blade. An end stop 2 is adjustable longitudinally and angularly and has an undercut edge to facilitate the dropping of the cut-off piece through the slot 21 into a drawer below. According to the first Provisional Specification, the shear blade is mounted on an angularly adjustable holder or in a modification is directly carried by a lever pivoted in a swivelling fork.
