Abstract

393,195. Machine guns. C E S K O - SLOVENSKA ZBROJOVKA AKCIOVA SPOLECNOST v. BRNE and STALLER, K., 7, U Lazaretu, Brunn, Czecho-Slovakia. Nov. 21, 1932, No. 32908. [Classes 92 (ii) and 119.] The working chamber 12, Fig. 1, of the gaspressure motor of a machine gun is provided with interchangeable walls 20, two or more of which are so mounted on a movable member x that the wall in use at any time may be removed from the gas-pressure motor and a new wall moved into position. In the form shown, the member x is in the form of a rotatable drum and the walls 20 are provided by a number of holes 22, Fig. 2, concentrically disposed around the drum. The latter is mounted on a pin 24 and between two lugs 27, 28, of the gas-pressure cylinder 14. Rotation of the drum is normally prevented by a spigot 8 which projects into the cylinder and one of the holes 22, and which is formed integral with a connecting-piece 2 which is secured to the barrel 1 by a bolt 3. Release of the drum is effected by removing the barrel from the gun. The drum is then rotated by hand or by a pawl-and-ratchet device associated with the two gun-supporting legs 381, 38". As shown, the legs, which are urged apart by a spring 45, are carried by a link 40 pivoted to a member 43 which is rotatably mounted on the cylinder 14. A pawl 35 carried by the leg 3811 engages with a series of teeth 36 in the member x and is adapted to advance the drum the necessary distance to bring the holes 22 successively into the operative position, when the legs are oscillated laterally about their pivotal support. The member 43 is connected to the cylinder 14 by a bayonet joint and is provided with a shield 54 which protects the operator from the gases escaping through the exhaust openings 53. A gas regulator 10 is rotatably mounted within the connecting-piece 2.
