Abstract

387,628. Tube couplings. WINGERATH, H., Ratingen, Germany. Sept. 29, 1932, No. 27017. [Class 99 (i).] Tubes a, b having end jointing flanges a<1>, b<1> are coupled by a sleeve f which fits loosely around the tube a and is provided with a number of dogs f<1> each adapted to engage a projecting stud d on the flange of the tube b. The dogs have inclined faces and are provided at their ends with grooves in which the studs may engage to prevent accidental uncoupling of the tubes. The part of the coupling sleeve bearing against the flange a<1> is provided with axial perforations in each of which is disposed a steel bearing ball e ; the inner ends of the holes are inturned &c. to prevent the balls falling out and the other ends accommodate adjusting screws g. Fluidtightness is secured by a packing ring c compressed within a groove in the flange a<1> by an annular projection on the flange b<1>.
