[Class 108 (i).] In vehicle bodies of the kind comprising a number of sheet metal panels which are secured to the frame ribs of the body and have their top and side edges overlapped externally by strips, the upper edges of the panels are held and externally covered by a strip constructed as a continuous girdle. The vertical edges of the panelling 6 are riveted &c. to the flanges 4, 4a, Fig. 3, of a two-part rib 1, 1a and a cover strip 8 with web 9 is provided to cover the edges of the panels, the parts 1, 1a and web 9 being adapted to be bolted together. The upper edges 10 of the panels 6 are secured to a holding bar 14, Fig. 4, housed in a longitudinal recess 15 in a continuous girdle strip 11, the strip being secured to the vertical rib by bolts 16. In a modification the girdle strip 11a, Fig. 8, is provided with projections 20, 21 in the recess 15a so that the securing bolts &c. 22, 23, 25 are not visible from the exterior. Fig. 5 shows the method of securing the window guides 27 by means of a sheath 29 which serves also for securing the guides 30 for the blinds 31. The cover strip 8 may be made integral with the rib as shown in Fig. 7 in which the edges 5 of the panels 6 are flanged against the rib 32 wedge-shaped blocks 35 and bolts 33 being provided for securing them.
