Abstract

282,584. Whitehead, F. W. April 26, 1927. Wind-screens. - In a vehicle wind-screen, window or like glass or celluloid panel having a compound frame formed partly of metal or other rigid material and partly of rubber or rubber composition, the frame comprises metal bars or a framework a of metal having a C-shaped channel into which the strips or blocks b of rubber &c. are fitted by pressure applied at right angles to the plane of the frame. Preferably the rubber strips are made with a bead b<1> shaped to fit the channel, with one or more grooves c along one or both edges to receive the glass or celluloid sheets, and with a depending flap d for draught-excluding purposes. The flap d or the entire rubber strip may be strengthened by applied or inserted strips e of fabric, leather or wire.
