Abstract

284,480. Arquint, H. Feb. 17, 1927. Bodies of road and railway vehicles consist of a metal skeleton frame comprising transverse and longitudinal members and interchangeable insertion frames for carrying the windows and for carrying the inner and outer panelling. The frame comprises vertical and cross members 1 - - 4, Fig. 1, and longitudinal members 5, 6, 10, 15 with rear bows 11, 12. The insertion frames comprise wooden frames 13 one of which at least on each side is braced by tension members 14. Spaces not fitted with insertion frames are provided with wooden panels 19. In a touring car, the vertical members are connected by longitudinal members only at the upper part, the cross members being omitted. Panelling 30 of sheet metal, wood, leather, &c., is secured to nail bars 32, Fig. 7, which are secured to the insertion frames 13.
