Abstract

462,622. Vehicle bodies. GARNER, J. P. Nov. 27, 1935, No. 32839. [Class 108 (i)] In a vehicle a floor frame preferably having side boxes forms a permanent structure and carries a superstructure consisting of desired detachable units, the frame preferably having a wide portion between the front and rear wheels to carry the side boxes and a narrower portion extending between the rear wheels. The floor frame comprises longitudinals 1, cross-members 2, 7, a cruciform stiffening frame 8, 9, additional longitudinal members 3 spaced from the longitudinals 1 by cross-members 4, uprights 11 of box frames, the upper ends of the members 11 being connected by members 12, 13 and short members 10 to which the rear ends of the mudguards are secured. Additional cranked members 5 are provided for detachable engagement with the propulsion unit described in Specification 466,214. On this floor structure a body of desired form comprised of standard units may be erected. The corner pillars are secured to the members 11 and carry at the top, longitudinal members 15 to which are secured arch roof members 16 and members 17. Panel units comprising panels 18 and frames 19 are secured to the members 15, 13 and the rear end may be closed by a panel unit or by doors. As shown in Fig. 3, a show-case 23 may be provided in place of the panel unit, the show-case 23 resting on the boxes and supports 24 and held in position by hooks 27. Doors 30, 31 may be provided for the side boxes.
