Abstract
499,326. Collapsable caravans. PLUMMER, H. C. B. July 22, 1937, No. 20280. [Class 108 (i)] A trailer caravan comprises a roof structure 1 adapted to be raised and lowered e.g. by jack devices 2, side walls 8 having frame-members 7 hinged at 6 to the roof, and stay-members 10 hinged to the lower ends of the members 7 at points 9 and to the fixed part of the caravan at points 11 spaced above the floor 3 so that in the lowered position of the roof the side walls and stay-members lie against the sides of the caravan while in the raised position of the roof the side walls and stay-members assume inclined and substantially horizontal positions respectively. The roof is unitary with depending frame-members 4 connected by cross-members 5. To the ends of the members 10 are hinged at 15 the frames 16 of triangular panels which close the ends of the extra compartments formed when the side walls 8 are inclined but which normally lie against the stay-members 10. The front end of the caravan includes a foldable section and the rear end foldable sections. The wheels 13 are boxed in at 14 within the fixed side walls 12.
