Abstract
820,216. Side-car caravans; rest bars; stub axles. SURREY SIDECARS Ltd., and HANSFORD, R. B. July 24, 1957 [May 2, 1956], No. 13532/56. Classes 108(1) and 108(2) A motor cycle side-car which may be expanded to form a caravan, comprises hinged panels 71, 72, 73 which form the side-car floor and near side but which may be unfolded to provide floor panels 71, 72 and a side panel 73, an end door 12 which may co-operate with a separate panel 13 to form a rear wall, a nose section 10 which together with a pivoted panel 11 may form the front wall, and a roof section which may be raised on telescopic rods 22. The space between the raised roof and the lower body panels is closed by unrolling canvas covers 25. In a modification the panel 73 may be pivoted down to act as a floor panel and additional awnings are provided. A cupboard and shelves and a folding table may be provided within the body panels. Rest bars. The caravan is supported on removable transverse members 14 provided with V-shaped pivoted elements 16 one of which embodies an adjusting screw 17. Movable stub axle. The wheel 6, Fig. 4, is mounted on a stub axle 64 contained in a bracket 61 pivoted about a pin 62 to the side-car chassis 5. In the travelling position the bracket 61 is held vertically by a bolt 67 passed through holes 63 and 66.
