Abstract
329,026. Holland, W. H., and Cooper, J. Feb. 12, 1929. Bodies.-The, framing of road vehicle bodies comprises laterally rigid transverse frames and intermediate connecting members connected at the joints by transverse layers of rubber so as to provide for torsional flexibility and longitudinal cushioning. The transverse frames comprise side pillars 1' - - 1<3> secured to the chassis 4 by metal box-section members 2 uniting with brackets 3 and roof members 6 connecting the pillars by means of metal caps 5. The cantrails 7 are in sections and are provided at their ends with metal caps 8 connected to the caps 5 by means of rubber vulcanized to each cap. The rear frame members 12 - - 14 and the wheel arch 11 are similarly connected to the rear pillar 1<3> by metal caps and vulcanized rubber. The scuttle frame comprises pillars 15 and cross member connected to the front pillars 1<1> by rails 16, 21 provided with metal caps connected to metal channels 18 by vulcanized rubber.
