Abstract
385,082. Earpiece attachments ; loudspeakers. COBBE, H. N. G., 39, Victoria Street, London. Nov. 19, 1931, No. 32115. [Class 40 (iv).] In devices for protecting the ear against acoustic shocks comprising a diaphragm, mounted as - unit with means for limiting the movement thereof and spacing members, the diaphragm is supplemented or replaced by one or more perforated diaphragms. A pair of diaphragms the inner of which is perforated or a number of such pairs may be employed. Where a pair of perforated diaphragms are employed the perforations are arranged out of register. As shown a diaphragm A is spaced by washers C from wire grids D which are mounted between rings E to form a unitary structure ; the diaphragm A has perforations a which are obturated in the event of a large displacement of the diaphragm, by pads F, secured to the inner grid D and made of cork or felt or comprising'beads of dry paint or cellulose. The appliances may be mounted adjacent to the diaphragm of a head-phone, telephone receiver, or loudspeaker.
