Abstract

[Class 40 (iv)] The thin metal foil diaphragm 1 of an electrostatic loud-speaker is secured under tension by screwing, riveting, cementing, &c., to the border 2 of the fixed electrodes 3 and is supported at a number of points between its centre and circumference by small pieces 4, such as elastic plates or rubber bosses secured to the fixed electrodes. According to a modification, Fig. 3, (not shown), a single fixed electrode has diaphragms mounted on opposite sides thereof. In this case, the bosses 4 on the two sides may be differently arranged so as to obtain different acoustic characteristics.
