[Class 35.] The armature or fieldmagnet polepieces of a motor having a threelimbed armature are provided with slots extending in the axial direction or with extensions to obviate " dead " points. In the form shown in Fig. 2, two of the four field-magnet polepieces f have extensions g at diametrically opposite points, and the field magnets may be arranged to produce two or four poles. In the form shown in Fig. 3, the upper polepiece has an extension so that the two polepieces i are unsymmetrical with respect to the yoke portion h of the magnet, and this construction may be applied to motors with two horseshoe magnets. In an alternative, form, a two- or four-pole motor with one or two horseshoe magnets has an axially-extending slot in the centre of the periphery of each armature polepiece.
