[Class 35.] In a generator giving more than two flux alternations per revolution and having magnets m substantially in the form of segments of a hollow cylinder and armature cores a subtending the same chord as the magnets, the number of magnets is equal to the number of armature cores and the angle subtended by each magnet equals or exceeds 180‹ divided by the number of magnets. Where specially long permanent magnets are required, the ends may be bent back to form pole pieces as shown in Fig. 4 or L-shaped soft iron pole pieces may be provided at the ends of the magnets. The armatures or the magnets may be rotatable.
