Convention date, Nov. 29, 1930. [Class 39 (ii).] A device for maintaining the circuit when the filament of one of a number of series connected lamps fails consists of a paste which includes as one of its constituents a quantity of powdered tin, carbon, or other conductive substance, and is used to secure the cap 1 to the bulb 3. In an example the paste consists of one part of the powdered conductive substance, two parts of litharge and sufficient glycerine to form a paste which sets hard to cement the cap and bulb together. The leading-in wires 6 are embedded within the paste 4, the resistance of which is high in comparison with that of the filament 5.
