Cut-out arrangements. - Lamp bulbs for series lighting are provided with an auxiliary filament 18 adapted to be placed automatically in the series circuit when the main filament 15 fails, the supporting wires of the two filaments being bound to. gether at 23, 24 with insulation interposed at one or both points of connection, and the insulation being adapted to break down when the main filament fails and so pass the current to the second filament. The insulation may com. prise a band of aluminium having a film of oxide on its surface. To indicate that the main filament has failed the second filament may be of lower illuminating power.
