Abstract

Filaments; lamps with filaments non-conductive when cold. - Incandescent bodies are used having the lightemitting characteristics described in Specification 172,615, but electricallyconducting varieties are chosen, for example zinc oxide, so that they can be brought to incandescence by current passed through them. Coloured transparent crystals 4 may be embedded in the surface of a conducting transparent base 3 connected at its sides to the leading-in wires. In the case of bodies that are conductive only when hot, means are provided to impart the initial heating.
