Abstract

382,654. Refrigerating. ELECTROLUX, Ltd., 153, Regent Street, London.- (Assignees of Platen-Munters Refrigerating System Aktiebolag ; 2, Norrmalmstorg, Stockholm.) July 29, 1931, No. 21687. Convention date, Aug. 13, 1930. [Class 29.] Absorption systems.-A liquor circulating arrangement for continuous-cycle inert gas systems comprises a pressure chamber 20 located at the lower part of the generator 10, an S-shaped " valve pipe 23 adapted to be sealed and unsealed periodically, a rising pipe 25 leading from the liquor space of the pressure chamber and adapted to vent gas from the valve pipe to the rectifier 13 and condenser 12, and a further liquid seal pipe 24. Liquor is delivered periodically to the absorber 16 through a pipe 21 which exchanges heat at 22 with a return pipe 19 from the absorber to the generator. An inverted U pipe, one leg 28 of which is wide enough to allow gas and liquor to flow together therein, connects the top of the valve pipe with the gas space of the pressure chamber. When pressure is developed in the chamber 20 due to the heating, liquid in the outer pipe of the seal 24 is pressed down, a column is formed in the pipe 25, and liquid is pumped through the pipe 21 to the absorber. This will continue until the opening of the conduit 21 is exposed to the gas space or until the gas pressure in the U tube 27, 28 has forced liquid out of the valve pipe. Gas will then escape from the left side of the valve pipe and through conduit 25 to the condenser, pressures will be equalized, and liquor will flow from the upper part of the generator through the seal 24 to replenish the pressure chamber. An enlargement 30 may be provided in the pipe 25. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also the following subject-matter : In order to reduce the total height of the apparatus the superior pressure in the pumping chamber may be balanced by several liquid columns in series. On increase of pressure in the pumping chamber liquor is forced through a pipe into an intermediate chamber which is vented to the condenser. On equalization of pressure liquor will flow from the generator to the intermediate chamber and thence to the pressure chamber. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
