[Class 55 (i).] In the production of water gas in a coke oven the steam is introduced into an oven through an inlet b near the top and at one end, and the mixture of gases and undecomposed steam is withdrawn from the other end through an inlet e at the bottom, and re-introduced into another oven from which the gases are withdrawn through the usual ascension pipe c.
