Abstract
399,859. Coking processes. STILL, C., Recklinghausen, Westphalia, Germany. April 13, 1932, No. 10626. Convention date, April 21, 1931. [Class 55 (i).] In a process for producing gas and coke in a chamber oven in which vertical ducts 28 are formed in the charge by the insertion of rods which are subsequently withdrawn, the ducts communicate with a collecting pipe 18 by tubes 26 extending downwardly from the oven roof, and are used for the introduction of steam or coal gas, or other gas into the glowing coke during the later stages of the carbonizing period. The ducts are used, before the introduction of the gas or steam, for withdrawing the distillates which are collected in a main 10. When valve 20 is closed the gases are supplied through pipes 32 or 33, and the water gas or other products are led by an ascension pipe 7 from a collecting space 12 to a gas main 8.
