Abstract
375,902. Coking processes. STILL, C., Recklinghausen, Westphalia, Germany. April 10, 1931, No. 10620. Convention date, April 10, 1930. Addition to 357,057. [Class 55 (i).] In a coking process of the kind described in the Parent Specification, in which distillates are withdrawn from ducts in the charge as well as from the space above the charge, when treating coals of high volatile content the vacuum employed for drawing off the distillates from the interior of the charge is raised to not less than 100 mm. of water and is gradually reduced as the gas development diminishes. This suction from the interior of this charge is maintained until nearly the end of the carbonizing period. In an example, a suction of 170 mm. below atmospheric is maintained for 20-22 hours in a coking period of 24 hours.
