Abstract
359,869. Coking processes. STILL, C., Recklinghausen, Westphalia, Germany. April 1, 1931, No. 9882. Convention date, April 3, 1930. Addition to 356,079. [Class 55 (i).] In a process of withdrawing distillates by suction from ducts in the interior of a coke oven charge, as described in the parent Specification, a hard metallurgical coke is obtained by charging coal of high volatile content (over 30 per cent) loosely into the oven the walls m of which are maintained at temperatures which do not substantially exceed 850- 900‹ C. Ducts e are formed in the charge a by insertion of rods f, and tubes c are introduced, the tops being sealed by packing d in tubular chambers b beading by pipes h, i to a common main connected with an exhauster. A constant and approximately atmospheric pressure is maintained to the gas space o.
