Abstract
381,985. Vaporizers. BJERING, H., 567, Roque Saenz Pena Avenue, Buenos Aires. July 29, 1931, No. 21716. [Class 7 (iii).] Heavy oil is supplied at a high pressure by a pump 52 through a pipe 53 coiled around an exhaust pipe 11 to an exhaust-heated chamber 2 where it mixes with primary air admitted by a tube 6, the lower end of which communicates with the atmosphere. A spring- loaded conical valve 34 in the head of the mixing chamber 2 spreads the fuel as it enters, causing it to impinge upon a comb-like pulverizer of the form shown in Fig. 4. The rich mixture passes through a helical passage 8 and connecting tubes 19 to a chamber 21 having a " hit- and-miss " valve 48 which controls the admission of secondary air through ports 49 and also regulates the flow of mixture to the induction pipe 28. A throttling valve 13 controls the flow of exhaust gases to the heating chamber to regulate the temperature thereof. The fuel may be supplied to the pulverizer at a pressure of 3000 lbs. per sq. in.
