Abstract

129,447. Carter, H. C., and Maconochie, H. July 11. 1918. Spray carburettors. -The fuel is heated in a chamber a and passes through a valve chamber n to a mixing - chamber p into which primary air is admitted at p<2> and secondary air at p<3>. The mixture may pass through another heater on its way to the induction pipe of the engine. The primary air may be controlled bv a hit-andmiss valve, and the secondary air is controlled by a sliding valve u. The fuel valve q is operated bv means of a suction-actuated piston x acting through a shaft r<1> and a crank r<2>. The secondary-air valve may be controlled by hand or automatically as in the case of the fuel valve, or the piston x may control both valves. The vaporizer a comprises shallow drums g, i connected by tubes h, the whole being held together by nuts m, n. The fuel enters at e and leaves at k. Exhaust gases enter and leave by pipes c, but the vaporizer may be heated by the cooling-water or electrically. Specification 116,303 is referred to.
