Abstract

176,848. Rayner, V. C. Nov. 17, 1920. Vaporizers, external.-In carburretting-apparatus wherein the fuelsupply portion E is separable from the mixing-chamber portion J and connected therewith by a conduit H, the fuel-supply portion delivers mixture into a vaporizing-chamber D surrounding the exhaust passage A, and being itself surrounded by an exhaust jacket T. The mixture passes through the conduit H to the chamber J, where it is mixed with additional air admitted at M and controlled by a valve 0, the resulting mixture, being controlled by a throttle-valve N. The exhaust passage A may be thickened, as shown, to reduce its bore and increase the heat absorbed by it. Holes T2 admit exhaust gases to a second chamber T which surrounds the vaporizing-chamber. Steam may be admitted to the conduit H from a chamber P in the exhaust silencer Q, such chamber containing porous material R and receiving water from a tank S. Specification 118,340 is referred to.
