Abstract

381,432. Discharge apparatus. TELEFUNKEN GES. FUR DRAHTLOSE TELEGRAPHIE, 12, Hallesches Ufer, Berlin. Jan. 26, 1932, No. 2412. Convention date, Jan. 27, 1931. [Class 39 (i).] In valves in which the source of electrons is a glow discharge, the anode of this discharge is of greater area than the cathode, the two electrodes are of strip or band shape, and a layer of insulating material is placed between them, the whole being arranged to shield the discharge cathode from the main gridanode space and to form a composite structure. In an amplifier, the main anode 2 and control grid 3 are concentric cylinders, the strip cathode 5 and wider strip anode 4 having a layer of insulating material 6 between them. The electrodes 4, 5 are held by insulated clamps 7 at their ends. Any number of concentrically-arranged cathodeglow discharge systems may be used.
