Abstract
376,677. Road vehicle suspensions. FORD' MOTOR CO., Ltd., 88, Regent Street, London.-(Assignees of Ford, H. ; Dearborn, Michigan, U.S.A.) Feb. 19, 1932, No. 5048. Convention date, Oct. 27, 1931. [Class 108 (ii).] Transverse or slightly oblique springs are arranged behind the rear axle with their ends secured to short rearward extensions of the axle and' with their centres secured to a transverse frame member' so that the spring may clear the enlarged centre part of the axle structure which encloses the differential gear. The spring 22 is bent slightly as viewed in plan so that the two ends approach the axle, the centre being clamped by U-bolts 34 to a transverse member 33. The ends of the springs are connected by shackles 19 to arms 18 integral with plates 15 rigid with the ends of the axle casing 10, the rear ends of diverging radius rods 23 being bolted to the plates 15. The end of each arm 18 is formed with a ball to which the operating arm 36 of a shock-absorber 35 is connected.
