Abstract

Laminar springs; india-rubber springs. -In shackles for the front leaf-spring suspension of motorvehicles, the links 1 are connected by curved - transverse members 2<1>, 2<2> provided with stops 4', one of which strikes the frame of the vehicle, if the main leaf or the spring breaks, and thus limits the angular displacement of the shackle and of the front axle. As shown in Fig. 1, each stop 4' is formed on a screw 4 mounted at an incline in a boss 3 on the transverse member 2<1> or 2<2> and held in position by a small screw 6; the screw 4 may be otherwise held in position by a conical nut entering the lower end of the boss and a lock-nut. Alternatively, the stop consists of a buffer 7, Fig. 4. of india-rubber &c. held within the boss 3 by a screw 4 and a nut, the position of the buffer being adjusted by the insertion of metallic rings 7' below the buffer.
