231,960. Thornyeroft & Co., Ltd., J. I., and Barford, V. G. Jan. 19, 1924. Springs, arrangement of; laminar and indiarubber springs.--A resilient block b is arranged on the frame of a vehicle directly above and near to each end of an ordinary semi-elliptic spring a which is secured at its centre to the axle and is suitable for light loads, the arrangement being such that, as the load is increased, the blocks are compressed or deformed and take an increasing amount of the load, the effective length of the spring being at the same time shortened. Each block is preferably attached, as by vulcanization, to a plate h secured in a bracket c on the frame by studs f, the position of the block relatively to the spring being adjusted by the interposition of washers g. The lower surface b<1> of the block is inclined upwardly away from the end of the spring.
