[Class 46.] A strainer for liquids and gases comprises a casing having an axial outlet D and containing a substantially solid former A abutting against the outlet end wall of the casing and formed with longitudinal grooves A<1> communicating directly or by passages A<2> with the outlet ; a straining wire is wound helically about the former which is held by a screwed inlet cap D<2> ; a bridge piece or spider C which may be integral with the former is interposed between the cap and the former.
