Abstract

878,851. Filters. C. A. V. Ltd. March 1, 1960 [March 12, 1959], No. 8548/59. Class 46. A filter casing 10 has a spigot 15 projecting from its base, the spigot having an inlet bore 16 and a nut 19 threaded on to it, which nut may be unscrewed to uncover drainage ports 18 in the base of the casing. A sealing member may be disposed between the nut and the base. Preferably the spigot is made integral with part or all of the casing, (as shown), as a moulding of translucent synthetic resin. As shown, the spigot extends inwardly at 20 to support a metal tube 13 ; to this tube, and to the casing wall, a filter element 12, e.g. of folded paper strip,is secured, e.g. by adhesive. The spigot end may be tapered to enable it to grip a liquid supply line when contracted by a nut 17. Preferably the cap 11 also has a tapered (outlet) spigot 22 and contracting nut 23. Liquid, e.g. fuel, reaches the inside of the casing through apertures 21 in spigot extension 20 and flows axially through the element to the region below a cap 11. Water, &c., may be seen through translucent casing 14.
